Sansa Stark - Fancasts
Age: 11 - 13
Appearance: She is traditionally beautiful by Westerosi standards. She has high cheekbones, deep blue eyes and thick soft auburn hair that is lighter than her motherâs. She is described as tall, graceful and âwomanlyâ. Her hair is dyed when she becomes Alayne.
Character: Elizabeth Tudor [Younger]
Actress: Claire MacCauley
Show: The Tudors [2007] [Season 3]
[Unknown age, looks to be between 7 - 9 so good for pre-cannon or maybe book 1. She has light auburn hair and high cheekbones but her eyes are the wrong colour. She wears 16th century clothes.Sorry for the bad quality photos, couldnât find better.]
Character: Elizabeth Tudor [Younger]
Actress: Summer Rose Allison
Movie: Elizabeth I [2017]
[Unknown Age, looks about 8 ish - 11 so around the right age for when she arrives in Kings Landing or when sheâs at Winterfell. She is pretty with thick auburn hair but doesnât have deep blue eyes but she has high cheekbones. She wears 16th century clothes.]
Character[s]: Thyra [Younger] & Elizabeth Tudor
Actress: Madeleine Power
Show[s]: The Last Kingdom [2015] & Six Wives with Lucy Worsley[2016]
[Unknown Age, was playing a 9 year old in both and looks to be around that age maybe a year older in the Six Wives. Her hair is a light auburn but itâs thin and she has brown eyes unfortunately but she does have high cheekbones. She wears Norse ish clothes in the last kingdom and 16th century clothes in the six wives.]
Character[s]: Mary & Lily Evens [Younger]
Actress: Ellie Darcey-Aiden
Show: Robin Hood [2006] [Season 3 & 1 Episode]
Movie: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
[She is 9 in Robin Hood so too young but she interacts with a character who looks like the hound and is in more accurate clothes. She is the right age for her in the first few books in the Harry Potter movie at 11/12. She is pretty with light auburn hair and high cheekbones but has the wrong eyes. She wears relatively modern clothes in Harry Potter so itâs only good for close ups but Robin Hoodâs mediaeval ďżźish.]
Character[s]: Maria Merryweather & Lyra Belacqua
Actress:Dakota Blue Richards
Movie[s]: The Secret of Moonacre [2008] & The Golden Compass [2007]
[She was 12/13 during these movies so around the right age for her in later books. She is pretty with light auburn hair and has high cheekbones but the wrong eyes. She wears modern clothes in Golden Compass and fantasy clothes in Moonacre.]ďżźďżź
Character: Elizabeth Tudor

Character: Estella [Younger]

GRRM wrote the "Blackwater" episode in GOT and he took of the uncomfortable scene between Sansa and Sandor . I wonder whether he took it off because he thought that many book readers had misinterpreted which to his vast dismay he even was surprised by the ship and didn't want the show watchers to think likewise. Or maybe it was the difference in actor's ages ? He has said that scene foreshadows some events in the future. Any thoughts ?
About the actors age difference, GRRM wanted Ronald Perlman (born April 13, 1950) to play the hound. And he rooted hard for Rory McCann (born 24 April 1969) to get the role.
Compare those actors ages with the actresses that auditioned to play Sansa Stark ages:
Sophie Turner (born 21 February 1996).
Isobel "Izzy" Meikle-Small (born 22 March 1996).
Eleanor Elizabeth Bamber (born 2 February 1997).
About the characters dynamics/interactions, that are full of physical and emotional abuse and rapey undertones, I heard that there were focus groups to test the audience reception of said dynamics, and the participants reacted very negatively so they cut that from the show.Â
I imagine thatâs why they also cut that filmed scene when hound grabs Sansaâs arms and talks about her body with all that sexual/singing dialogue adapted from their book scenes.

Oh but it is evident that Ron Perlman was too old for the role, but that wasn't the point of the post.
GRRM wanted Ronald Perlman (born April 13, 1950) to play the hound.
Ron Perlman = 46 years of difference
Rory McCann = 28/27 years of difference
That's about the actors.
Now, about the characters, GRRM also remarked the big age difference:
weltraummuell: The Hound
Oh please donât cast an old guy for the Hound, his scenes with Sansa are so romantic and erotic, I couldnât bear if itâd feel creepy all of a sudden.
Well, thatâs me making demands. LOL
GRRM: Re: The Hound
Old guy? No, but⌠the Hound is still a whole lot older than Sansa, and was never written as attractive⌠you know, those hideous burns and all that⌠heâs a lot more dangerous than he is romantic.
[Source]
Honestly if Sandor Clegane was meant to be Dunk 2.0 or a Brooding Byronic hero or even a dashing male gothic protagonist then Grrm would certainly have made sure to give him POV chapters. I think even he was a bit surprised by the shippers reaction to the character and felt that people are giving way too much importance to him in the grand scheme of things . Vouching for Rory McCann was his way of indirectly telling that it's not going to end romantically .
A Byronic Hero IS a protagonist. Like Vincent (The Beast from Beauty and the Beast 1987 TV Show) and Jon Snow.
Curiously enough, GRRM called Vincent and Jon Snow âByronic Heroesâ the same year:Â
"Vincent (The Beast from CBSâ 'Beauty and the Beastâ show) was a classic, Romantic, Byronic hero. Being able to bring that to television and a mass audience was great.â âGRRM - Hollywood Reporter - 2017
And the character Iâd want to be? Well who wouldnât want to be Jon Snow â the brooding, Byronic, romantic hero whom all the girls love. âGRRM - Meduza - 2017
GRRM first option to play the hound was Ron Perlman, the actor who played the role of Vincent in the Beauty and the Beast 1987 TV Show. This fact is used by those shippers as evidence for their ship, but they never talk about the fact that Ron Perlman was born in April 13, 1950, while Sophie Turner was born in 1996...
46 years of difference
